What works where

Beta

The wanderer mobile app is currently in beta. Expect rough edges and occasional bugs. Under no circumstances should you rely on the app as your sole means of navigation during a hike. Always carry a backup, such as a paper map and compass or a dedicated GPS device.

Not everything from the web interface is in the app yet; see what works where. Found a bug? Report it on GitHub.

The app is built for the trail: finding trails, recording, navigating, and working without a connection. Managing your collection and talking to other people still mostly happen on the web. Both use the same account and the same data on your instance, so anything you do on one side shows up on the other.

The goal is full parity with the web interface. The tables below show where the beta stands today. For how a feature works, see the linked pages in the sidebar.

One account, two sides

• Settings made in the app apply on the web and vice versa, except the theme, which is stored per device.
• Trails you create in the app are stored on your device first and uploaded to your instance automatically as soon as it is reachable. Until then they exist only on that phone.
• Trails you download are copies. Editing happens on the instance; use Update in the trail’s three-dot menu to refresh the device copy after the original changed.
